Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Hue Budget App ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Hue Budget App is a personal finance visualization application that:

  • Connects to your bank accounts via Plaid to fetch transaction data in real-time
  • Displays your transactions in an interactive heatmap grid format
  • Allows you to click on any day to view detailed transaction lists
  • Provides category breakdowns and filtering of your spending
  • Offers customizable color schemes for the heatmap visualization
  • Processes all transaction data on your device (client-side)
  • Does NOT store any transaction data in our database

3. Data Collection and Usage

  • We fetch transaction data through Plaid in real-time when you use the app
  • Zero Database Storage: No transaction data is stored in our database
  • Client-Side Processing: All transaction data is processed on your device
  • Stored Data: Only Plaid access tokens and user authentication data
  • Not Stored: Transaction amounts, dates, merchants, categories, or any financial details

4. User Accounts and Authentication

  • The App uses anonymous authentication through Supabase
  • No personal identification information is required for basic usage
  • Optional Apple Sign In may be available for enhanced features
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device

5. Bank Account Connection

  • Bank account linking is provided through Plaid, a third-party service
  • You authorize us to fetch transaction data via Plaid for display purposes only
  • We store only secure access tokens to enable real-time data fetching
  • We do not store your banking credentials or transaction details
  • You can disconnect bank accounts at any time through the App

6. App Features and Functionality

  • Heatmap Grid: Visual representation of daily spending with customizable colors
  • Transaction Details: Click any day to view transactions for that date
  • Category Breakdown: Filter and view spending by category
  • Color Customization: Personalize the heatmap colors to your preference
  • Real-Time Data: Transactions fetched directly from Plaid when needed

7. User Conduct and Restrictions

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the App for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Attempt to reverse engineer or hack the App
  • Share your account access with others
  • Use the App if you are under 18 years of age
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempt to access or store transaction data outside the App

8. No AI or Content Generation

  • The App does not use AI to generate any content
  • The App does not analyze or profile your spending habits
  • The App simply displays your transaction data in a visual format
  • All data visualization happens on your device

9. Data Privacy and Security

  • Transaction data is fetched in real-time and processed on your device only
  • We do not store, analyze, or share your transaction data
  • Only authentication tokens are stored in our secure database
  • Detailed privacy practices are outlined in our Privacy Policy

10. Subscription and Payments

  • The App may offer premium features through subscription plans
  • Subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Billing and refund policies are governed by the respective app stores
  • We reserve the right to modify pricing with advance notice

11. Intellectual Property

  • The App and its content are owned by Jabari Kemp / I JUST WANT LLC
  • You retain all rights to your personal financial data
  • You may not redistribute or commercialize App content
  • The heatmap visualization and UI are proprietary designs

12. Third-Party Services

We integrate with third-party services including:

  • Plaid: Bank account connection and real-time transaction data fetching
  • Supabase: User authentication and secure token storage
  • Sentry: App performance monitoring and error tracking (no financial data)
  • Apple/Google: App distribution and payments

Each service has its own terms and privacy policies that also apply to your use.

13. Disclaimers and Limitations

  • The App is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind
  • We do not provide financial advice - the App is for visualization only
  • We are not responsible for decisions made based on App visualizations
  • We do not guarantee continuous availability or error-free operation
  • Transaction data accuracy depends on Plaid and your financial institutions

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App (if any)
  • We are not responsible for third-party service failures or data breaches
  • We are not liable for any financial decisions made using the App

15. Termination

  • You may delete your account and stop using the App at any time
  • We may terminate or suspend access for violations of these Terms
  • Upon termination, your authentication data and Plaid tokens will be deleted
  • Certain provisions of these Terms survive termination

16. Changes to Terms

  • We may update these Terms from time to time
  • Significant changes will be communicated through the App
  • Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
  • Current version is always available in the App

17. Governing Law and Disputes

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States
  • Disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration when possible
  • You waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits
  • Local consumer protection laws may provide additional rights
